visionOS Settings: the iPad list rebuilt for a headset

Apple Vision Pro borrows the iPad's two-pane Settings and adds the rows only a headset needs: eye and hand calibration, a Persona, virtual environments and a guest mode. How visionOS organises its Settings

The sidebar opens with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Battery, then General, which carries About, Software Update, Storage, AirDrop, Language & Region and Reset. Eyes & Hands is where the headset differs: Re-run Eye Setup, Hand Tracking, Dominant Hand and the accessibility pointer options. People holds the Persona, EyeSight and Spatial Personas. Environments picks the immersive backdrop, from Mount Hood to White Sands, and Displays & Brightness has only Auto-Brightness and True Tone.

Accessibility, Privacy & Security and Siri follow; Privacy & Security is also where Optic ID & Passcode lives, since the iris scan replaces Face ID. Apps, Control Center, Notifications, Sounds and Focus mirror the iPad. Travel Mode, a single switch, steadies tracking on a plane. Guest User lets someone else wear the device with All Apps and Data or Only Open Apps. Network, Screen Time and Passwords close the list.

What changes between versions

Five releases are here. visionOS 1.0 and 1.2 are the launch layout. visionOS 2.4 keeps the same twenty-one rows with the pages inside them grown. visionOS 26 adds Look to Scroll to Eyes & Hands, and 27 keeps the structure again; elsewhere the rail shows About and Software Update naming the release you chose. On Vision Pro the list has not needed reorganising yet, so the versions are mostly a record of the pages behind each row.

Three settings worth knowing the path to

  1. Settings > Eyes & Hands > Re-run Eye Setup

    The fix for a cursor that lands next to what you are looking at. Eye calibration drifts when the headset shifts on the face, and this is the only place to redo it.

  2. Settings > Guest User > Only Open Apps

    Lets a visitor try the device while seeing just the apps you have open, with a Start Guest Session button below. It is the row to know before handing the headset over.

  3. Settings > Travel Mode

    A single switch that tells the tracking system the cabin is moving. Without it the windows drift when the plane banks.

Under Privacy & Security, as Optic ID & Passcode, in the position Face ID & Passcode holds on an iPhone. The row covers unlocking, App Store purchases, Wallet and the passcode itself.

How do I let someone else use my Vision Pro?

Settings > Guest User, choose All Apps and Data or Only Open Apps, then Start Guest Session. The guest goes through a short eye and hand setup and your data stays locked.

Is this the real visionOS?

It is a simulation of the Settings app with the rows and wording of each release. The device name, storage and network shown are sample values and no apps run.
