How CarPlay organises Settings
Every entry earns its place by being something you would want changed once and then left alone. Wallpaper and Appearance handle how the screen looks at night. App Layout is a grid editor for the home screen, listing Maps, Phone, Music, Messages, Now Playing, Podcasts, Calendar, Audiobooks, Settings and Spotify. Do Not Disturb While Driving, Driving Focus and Announce Messages with Siri all concern interruption. Siri Suggestions, Suggested Apps and Sound cover what the system offers unprompted. Allow CarPlay While Locked and Manage Cars are the pairing and security pair. There is no catch-all panel at all.
Three levels is the whole point of comparison with the phone this connects to. The phone version of the same brand piles ten levels of nesting into thirty-five panels; here the same designers stripped it back to a list you can read at a glance. Related items are duplicated rather than nested, which is why Announce Messages with Siri appears both as a top-level row and inside Sound. That repetition looks untidy on a page but works in a car, where you should not have to remember which branch you took. Confusion usually comes from Appearance and Wallpaper sounding interchangeable.
Three settings worth finding
Settings > App Layout > Now PlayingThe grid editor decides what greets you when the engine starts. Moving Now Playing to the first page means audio controls are one glance away instead of one hunt away, which matters more than any other choice on this screen.
Settings > Sound > Announce Messages with SiriThis turns incoming messages into spoken text so you never look down at the display. It is the single row that changes driving behaviour most, and it also appears at the top level because of how often people go looking for it.
Settings > Maps > Show Speed LimitAdds the posted limit to the navigation view alongside your route. Drivers in unfamiliar regions find it useful, and it sits beside Show Compass in a panel most people never open because they assume map options live in the map app.

How this menu got here

Where do these CarPlay settings actually live on a real car?
Most of them appear on the dashboard screen itself once a phone is connected, and some mirror controls that also exist on the phone. The simulator reproduces the dashboard arrangement, reconstructed from the shipping interface rather than from published source, since this system is not open source.
Why are there so few settings compared with a phone?
Anything that takes more than a glance is a hazard while driving, so the design keeps the tree three levels deep and repeats important rows instead of burying them. Configuration that can wait is left on the phone, which is why the in-car list holds eighty-one rows rather than thousands.
Can I see the difference between the two versions?
