How OxygenOS organises Settings

Two rows sit at the top on their own, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, because those are the ones people open daily. Everything else is bundled: Connection and sharing takes SIM and network, Hotspot, Airplane mode, NFC, Cast, OnePlus Share, VPN and Private DNS in a single row. Customization is given equal billing with Display and brightness, which says a lot about the priorities here, since Wallpapers and style, Icons, Fingerprint animation, Horizon Light and Always-On Display are treated as settings rather than decoration. Special features, Battery, Security and privacy, System settings and About device close the list.

The bundling makes the first screen short and the second screen dense. Display and brightness alone carries Light, Dark, Auto brightness, Screen refresh rate, Ultra HDR, Screen color mode, Aqua Touch and Text and display size, so the row you want is usually one level down rather than three. That is friendlier than a deep tree but harder to scan, and the naming does not always help: Special features is a genuine catch-all whose contents you have to open to learn.     Choosing between a smoother, hungrier screen and a longer-lasting battery is one of the few settings with a visible effect on both feel and runtime. It sits a single level down, and trying each option is the fastest way to decide which you prefer.

  • Settings > Connection and sharing > Private DNS

    Routing name lookups through a chosen provider changes how the phone resolves addresses, which matters for filtering or for privacy on shared networks. Being buried inside a broad connectivity row means most owners never see it, even though it takes one screen to set.

How this menu got here

The software began as a lightly modified Android build with a reputation for staying close to Google's version. Is OxygenOS just Android with a new skin?

It is built on Android, but the arrangement differs enough that instructions written for a Pixel often send you to the wrong row. Will the Wi-Fi networks shown be mine?
